Twitter and Facebook are the top 2 social media that people use. Twitter is all about following other people and being followed also can be used to twit and being twitted whereas Facebook is all being liked and liking others, also, commenting others and being commented.
But why is it sooo important for celebrities whom in real life already have so many followers to also establish a presence in the social media (meaning having their own profile but it was run by their publicists or staffs)?
I just can't understand why they have an account in it but was run by others...
for instance the super famous band from Korea named Super Junior and a Korean actor named Lee MinHo
What do you guys think about this?
If they want to remain popular, they need to. SM is growing as we all know and is part of our every day life. If celebs don't well they will become less popular as SM become more popular. Celebs are brands, if they are popular, it is easier to market themselves to casters/labels. Think Justin Bieber.

You've touched on a topic that is important, i.e. having someone run your SM account(s) on your behalf. This can be very dangerous, as the tweets and status updates may not appear to be "authentic". We follow these people to hear what they are thinking and doing, so someone writing on their behalf can potentially alienate their audience.
ReplyDeleteI think Lady Gaga is one celebrity who really uses social media to connect to her fans (her 'little monsters'). She usually releases her latest video clip first to her fans through You Tube and she (or her assistant) use Facebook a lot too. There is also a DJ called DeadMau5 who is always posting comments and funny clips of his cat and gigs on Facebook....although you can never be sure I feel like it is actually him doing it - so either I'm right or his team do a really good job! http://www.facebook.com/deadmau5
ReplyDeleteI agree with @Wags, If I am following a celebrity because I am a fan, I wouldn't like that others manage her/his Facebook or twitter accounts, I would like to hear what she/he really is thinking about different topics, what she/he is feeling, etc. If I discover that a Facebook or twitter account is run by others, I probably could lose all the interest.
ReplyDeleteHello everyone :)
ReplyDeleteI agree I don't think it's right that celebrities should ask their staff to maintain their Facebook/Social media...because of the purpose of having their own page is that the information is authentic.
but then on the other hand, a lot of chinese/taiwanese celebrities have been posting personal information on weibo and many reporters have been taking this information and publishing it in their magazines what does everyone think about that? ~
@Daiz: I suspect that's their intention... to write something controversial so that the mainstream media report it. "Any publicity is good publicity"?
ReplyDelete@ross: well I know that social media is very important now and it can be their publicity means. but I think that it's just not right that celebrities profile on social media runs by their staffs...
ReplyDelete@wags, Pauletter & Daiz: I agree with you guys!I follow those celebrities to hear what they think and feel about something
@amity: well, not all celebrities ask their staffs to run their profile, just like Taylor Swift who runs the SM profile by herself :)
